Is this program for you?

If any of this feels familiar, you are in the right place

This is a program for parents. So many children communicate distress through behaviour, whether or not they have a diagnosis, and it can leave the whole family exhausted. When you understand what sits beneath the surface, so much begins to make sense.

Do you, as a parent…

  • Feel like by the end of the day you have nothing left?
  • Feel like you have read the books, tried the charts, and are still guessing?
  • Find yourself bracing for pickup, the supermarket, or the moment before bed?
  • Lie awake wondering what you are doing wrong?
  • Want to understand why the behaviour happens, not just manage it?
  • Live rurally, where the right help feels a long drive and a long waitlist away?

Does your child…

  • Have frequent meltdowns or shutdowns?
  • Become overwhelmed easily?
  • Struggle with transitions and change?
  • Experience anxiety or demand avoidance?
  • Find communication hard, especially under stress?
  • Hold it together at school, then let go at home?
If you have tried everything

Reward charts. Consequences. Counting to three. Why doesn't any of it stick?

Because most advice targets the behaviour you can see, the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the surface sit big emotions, sensory overwhelm, anxiety, and communication stretched past its limit.

Work only with the tip, and the same storms tend to come back. Understand what lies beyond the behaviour, and you can finally respond to what is really going on. That, in one sentence, is the whole of Beyond Behaviour.

You were not failing. You were handed the wrong map. Here is a better one.

You do not have to keep guessing, and you do not have to do it alone.

What's included

Two clinicians, wrapped around your family

Beyond Behaviour is not four sessions in a room. It is a complete program, with time set aside just for your family alongside the group learning.

  • 12 hours of group learning, led together by a psychologist and a speech pathologist, two lenses on the same child.
  • A one to one intake and goal setting session, so everything is shaped around your child, not a generic case.
  • Pre and post assessments, so you can see and document any changes for your family over the program. We measure your confidence and your stress as a parent. We do not assess or score your child.
  • A review session after the program, so you are not left on your own once it ends.
  • Your own Family Capacity Building Plan, built with us during the program, ready to share with your school or NDIS team.
  • An in-depth take home workbook. Far more than a few handouts, it holds every framework, tool and worksheet from the four days, yours to keep and use at home, and to share with carers, teachers and support workers.
A workshop teaches a room. This is built around your child.

Group learning gives you the frameworks. The one to one time, the assessments and your written plan make it truly yours, so what you learn actually fits your family. That is the difference between a course and a program.

Our approach

Behaviour is communication

Think of the after school hour, the supermarket, the moment before bed, the times it all falls apart. Beyond Behaviour moves families past behaviour management toward really understanding what drives behaviour, communication, sensory needs, anxiety and emotional regulation. Change begins when you understand what sits beyond the behaviour and feel more confident responding differently.

The program is neuroaffirming, strengths based and family centred, built around simple frameworks you can keep using long after the program ends.

Curiosity before judgement Connection before correction Every behaviour makes sense Regulation before learning
The seven Beyond Behaviour frameworks
The four day journey

Each three hour day blends psychology and speech pathology together, with real stories, simple frameworks, and tools you can try the very same week. Run as a morning or afternoon group.

Respond

Walk into the hardest moments with a plan, knowing what to do before, during and after a meltdown.

Day 4

Move toward cooperation instead of compliance, and leave with a written plan for your family.

What you will exploreThe Choice Stack, friendships and social communication, family resilience, and your Family Capacity Building Plan.
Your facilitators

Led together by two experienced clinicians

Every session is shared between psychology and speech pathology, two lenses on the same child. Between us we bring decades of experience in children's emotional regulation, communication and behaviour, and the families who love them.

Why we built this

Between us we have spent decades sitting with families in their hardest moments, and we kept seeing the same thing. Parents who were doing everything they could, following all the advice, and still feeling lost and alone. Beyond Behaviour is the program we always wished we could hand them: the two of us, working side by side, helping you understand your child and build a plan that is genuinely your own. When you register, you are talking to us, the two people who will be in the room with you.

The investment

What it costs, and how to fund it

You have seen everything included above. Here is what it costs, and the two easy ways families pay for it.

What your place covers
12 hours in the room with both cliniciansincluded
Your own intake and goal setting sessionincluded
Assessments before and after, and a review sessionincluded
Your written plan and an in-depth take home workbookincluded
Per family, private (incl. GST)$1,522

That is twelve hours with both of us, plus your own intake, your own review and a written plan. It works out at about $127 an hour for two clinicians in the room, which is less than either of us costs on our own. NDIS families are funded through their plan, with no GST. General information only, not financial advice.

Private families, per family

Two easy ways to fund it

With NDIS funding

If your child has NDIS funding, the program is designed to be claimable under Capacity Building (Improved Daily Living), and depending on your child's plan and goals it may cost you nothing out of pocket. No GST on NDIS-funded places. Tell us on the form and we will send an itemised funding summary for your plan manager.

Privately funded, no diagnosis needed

A flat $1,522 per family, including GST. Prefer to spread the cost? Ask us about a simple payment plan.

The same program either way. Suits self managed and plan managed NDIS plans, and private families alike. General information only, not financial advice.

Before you register

Is this the right time for your family?

We would rather you knew exactly what this is, and what it is not, before you decide.

This is education and capacity building for parents. It is not therapy and it is not an assessment. We do not diagnose your child and we do not treat your child. If your family is in crisis right now, or your child needs individual therapy or a diagnostic assessment, please start with your GP. We are very happy to talk it through with you either way.

The program is for parents and carers. Children do not attend. The four half days fall on Fridays and Saturdays, mornings for the 4 to 8 stream and afternoons for the 9 to 12 stream, so you will need care in place for your child on those days.

What is said in the room stays in the room. We ask every parent to keep what other families share confidential, and we do the same. There are limits we are required to be clear about: as registered practitioners we are mandated reporters in Western Australia, so if we believe a child is at risk of harm we must report it, and if anyone is at immediate risk we will act. If something serious comes up for your family, we will step out of the group and talk with you privately about the right support.

Common questions

The things parents ask us first

We have tried parenting programs before and nothing changed.

Most programs teach you to manage behaviour, the tip of the iceberg. Beyond Behaviour works with what lies beyond it: the emotions, sensory needs and communication that drive the behaviour in the first place. With two clinicians and a plan built around your actual child, it is shaped for your family in a way a generic course cannot be.

Is this really for us?

If you feel overwhelmed, worn out, or like you have run out of options, and your child has big feelings and behaviours, then yes, this is for you. No diagnosis is needed. This is a program for parents, built around your family.

$1,522 feels like a lot right now.

It is a real investment, so here is the honest picture. It is twelve hours with both of us, plus your own intake, your own review and a written plan, which works out at about $127 an hour for two clinicians in the room with you. That is less than either of us costs on our own. If your child has NDIS funding, the program is designed to be claimable under Capacity Building, and depending on your child's plan and goals it may cost you nothing out of pocket. And for private families we can talk about a simple payment plan. Tell us your situation on the form and we will walk you through it.

What if we cannot make all four days?

The four half days build on each other, so we do encourage you to come to them all. Life happens, though, so register your interest and we will talk through the dates and any options for your family.

Do we need a diagnosis?

No. If your child has big feelings and behaviours, diagnosis or not, this is for you. Funding pathways differ, and we will help you work out yours.

Many of the families we work with are autistic or ADHD, diagnosed, waiting, or wondering. You do not need a diagnosis to come, and we will never require one.

And if you have been wondering whether an assessment would help, that is a separate and worthwhile question. Your GP can refer you to a paediatrician, and this program works well alongside that process.
